So glad that you could take the time to articulate and write down your experience. It helps us all see and understand ourselves a bit more. Your description of your state of being after the storm reminds me of how the car spinning wreck I had on my 50th birthday affected me. That was a life altering experience. In a matter of seconds, my awareness of life and death was so intensified and altered. I felt like I had come so close to death that my life started all over again that day. It was both scary and freeing. Four years later when I get in my car to drive to work I still remember and think about that day. I sing my prayer songs of gratitude as I drive into the morning.
